Cascadia Subduction Zone Earthquake: A magnitude 9.0 earthquake scenario


Cascadia Region Earthquake WorkgroupCascadia Region Earthquake Workgroup (CREW) developed this earthquake scenario which projects the damage of a major earthquake in the Cascadia Subduction Zone (CSZ). The fault system lies offshore of the Pacific Northwest, stretching from Canada down to Northern California.

The CREW scenario gives particular attention to the effects on business continuity and economic recovery in the Puget Sound region. The scenario can help planners for private industry to take specifc mitigation steps in order to keep a business going in the wake of a catastrophic disaster. (2005, 34MB pdf)
