Seismic Renovation of the Historic Galleria Building Using Fluid Viscous Dampers


Project presented by Mark Tobin (KPFF) at EERI 69th Annual Meeting – March 2017.

 

 

 

 

Description: The Historic Galleria located in Downtown Portland was built in 1910. This building was full seismic upgraded in accordance with ASCE 41-06 “Seismic Rehabilitation of Existing Building”, because Target store moved into it increasing the occupancy. The seismic renovation design included Fluid Viscous Dampers, locally strengthened diaphragms and grade beams.
